Dar Es Saleem

We arrived in Dar Es Saleem in that afternoon and found a guesthouse in the center for about 35$ per night. The old room was basic with tiled floor and mosquito nets on the windows and AC.

We went to eat at a restaurant nearby but the food was not so great with the fish being too salty and not so fresh.

Dar is still a dusty town and also it’s the capital of Tanzania, it lacks a proper tourism industry.

Your best bet is to stay at one of the nicer hotels used by businessmen and government officials. Paying only 10$ more than at the backpackers guesthouse will set you up in a nice and clean room.

A visit to the local market is worth if you wish to buy local Masai artifacts or some of the delicious Zanzibar pepper and spices.
